| About Us |

Tale of the Whale is the result of a lifetime of collecting by Gary Petersen, who opened his store in Sooke, British Columbia, in April, 2006. His mother started him collecting coins and stamps when he was four years old, and he has not stopped since.
The idea for the name "Tale of the Whale" comes from Gary's belief that all art and antiques have a story to tell. This notion, combined with his passion for literature, took him back to his favorite novel, MOBY DICK, where Ahab told his men to "Beware the Tail of the Whale." The "Tales" of his collection are waiting to be told.
Tale of the Whale has hundreds of authentic Native Westcoast Art pieces, hand crafted knives, unique walking sticks, African Art, Antique Sterling Silver pieces, antique tools, Chinese Art, wooden boxes, and much more. The site is just being developed and the Native Art pieces will appear first.
